Et Alia (or et al. for short) is used in academic writing when a list is too long to name in full. In creative work, we’re often told to “find a niche.” And while there’s value in that, it never felt quite right for me. My passion is digital marketing, but why stop there? Some of what I do are campaigns, copy, performance strategy, data. But I’ve also modeled, styled, designed, photographed, podcasted, written editorial pieces, and built my own social platforms. When I try to sum it all up in a portfolio, the list always runs long. So I call it what it is: Et Alia.
Hi, I’m Karina, but most people call me Paulina. I study Communication Studies at Northwestern, with a minor in Psychology and pursing a certificate in Integrated Marketing. I’m involved in a lot on campus: I lead development for ISBE Mark, run social media for the HAT Lab, and research luxury consumer behavior. I’m also part of Stitch Magazine, Alpha Chi Omega, UNITY Fashion Show, and Women in Business.
I’m a big believer in routines, good bread, and saying yes to fun. I love EDM, reggaetón, festivals, and exploring new coffee shops. I’m always creating, whether I’m filming a GRWM, styling an outfit, or taking pictures with my friends just because... why not! I care deeply about my family and my faith, and I’m usually planning a Bachelor’s night, trying a new workout class, or checking in on the people I love.
I approach marketing with structure but never assume there’s one right answer. One of my core strengths is translating abstract ideas into visual outcomes. I’m often the person who hears a loose concept and quickly sketches how it could work. I have a sharp visual eye, a strong sense of aesthetic, and take pride in making people feel understood through what I create.
But I don’t stop at the creative. I ground my work in KPIs and use data to find smarter ways to reach them. If something isn’t working, I move fast and try something else. I take smart risks and use testing to stay ahead. Working across different areas of marketing has taught me to stay flexible and open to better ideas, especially when they challenge my own.
